Right-click a filter-area icon

  • Hide this Field - Removes the field. (To get it back, see the Field List below.) 

  • Order - Moves the field to a different location in the same area: 

    • Move to Beginning - Moves the field to the beginning of the list. 

    • Move to Left - Moves the field to the immediate left of the current position. 

    • Move to Right - Moves the field to the immediate right of the current position. 

    • Move to End - Moves the field to the end of the list. 

Of course, you can also move fields by dragging them with the mouse. 


If you want to move a field to a different area, you can drag it with the mouse or use the Field List in the ribbon menu.

  2. Show Filter Editor - Opens a pop-up menu for adding condition/group/Custom Expression.
  3. Rename - Changes the name of the field.

Right-click a row-area or a column-area icon

  1. Expression Editor - This option appears only for calculated fields in the report. Refer to Calculated Fields.
  2. Hide this Field - Removes the field. (To get it back, see " Field List" below.)
  3. Order - Moves the field to a different location in the same area:
    1. Move to Beginning - Moves the field to the beginning of the field list.
    2. Move to Left - Moves the field to the immediate left of the current position.
    3. Move to Right - Moves the field to the immediate right of the current position.
    4. Move to End - Moves the field to the end of the field list.

  3. Group Interval - Lists all the custom groups and built in groups.
  4. Sort Method - Lists all the custom sort fields and built in sort fields which can be used.
  5. Top N - Allows you to choose only the topmost values in a particular category. For details see the Top N article.
  6. Show Values - Shows / hides the field values.
  7. Show Totals - Shows / hides the field totals.
  8. Show Grand Total - Shows / hides the grand total of all the rows or columns for the selected field.

  1. Hide this Field - Removes the field.

  4. Summary Type - The summarizing function (calculation) used.
If you summarize a non-numeric field, you may get meaningless results depending on the function you choose.

Count

The number of values.

Sum

The sum of the values.

Min

The smallest value.

Max

The largest value.

Average

The average of the values.

StdDev

An estimate of the standard deviation of a population, where the data represent a sample subset of the population.

StdDevp

The standard deviation of a population, where the data include the entire population.

Var

An estimate of the variance of a population, data represents a sample subset of the population.

Varp

The variance of a population, where the data include the entire population.

Count Distinct

The distinct number of values.

Median

The median value.

Mode

The most frequently occurring value.

  1. Show Values - Shows / hides the value of the fields in the data area.
  2. Show Totals - Shows / hides the totals of each data area for the selected field.
  3. Show Grand Total - Shows / hides the grand total of the data field.

  1. Sort "column_name" by This Row - Sorts the column fields based on the current row’s values.
The image in the row field indicates that the field values are sorted by this row.

  1. Remove All Sorting - Removes any sorting applied to the row.

If you have more than one data-area field in your pivot report, then the data-field names will also appear as column-headers. Therefore, depending on how your column-area fields are ordered, the innermost column-header could either be a column-area field value, or a data-area field name.


  • Sort "row_name" by This Column - Sorts the row fields based on the current column’s values.

The  image in the row field indicates that the field values are sorted by this row.
  1. Expression Editor - See Calculated Fields.
  2. Note: "Expression Editor" appears only for calculated fields.
  3. Remove this Field - Removes the field from the column-area.
  4. Remove All Sorting - Removes any sorting applied to the column.

  1. Expand - shows the details for the current row field.  (This option appears only if the field is currently collapsed.)
  2. Collapse - Hides the details for the current row field.  (This option appears only if the field is currently expanded.)
  3. Expand All - Shows the details for all row fields.
  4. Collapse All - Hides the details for all row fields.
